(FORT BEND COUNTY) - This week’s Adoptable Pet of the Week is Piper, who came into Fort Bend County Animal Services June 21. To meet Piper, visit the shelter at 1210 Blume Road or call the shelter at 281-342-1512.
“Short, squat, and so totally styling, Piper packs in fun by the pound, and she’s a full-figured beauty,” said shelter staff. “She’s got the build of a medium sized dog, but her middle section is very densely packed. Three-year-old Piper came into the shelter as a stray with a microchip. Despite multiple attempts to contact her owner she was never reclaimed. That hasn’t dulled her sparkle at all though! She continues to greet everyone with her huge smile and many tail wags. She came in with an old wound on her back left thigh that you probably didn’t even notice because her face is so pretty you didn’t look much farther. (it’s okay, she knows she’s that pretty.) The wound has already healed, she just doesn’t have hair in a little section there. She’s not the least bit self-conscious and would love to show it off to you in person if you wanted to stop by and visit her.
“Piper is very sweet and friendly and loves to get attention from people. She’ll lay calmly beside you for as long as you’ll pet her. But she’s also happy to entertain herself if need be - especially if she’s got squeaky toys on hand! She loves those and is happy to play with them all by herself (but even happier to play keep away with you). She has an average energy level.
“This smart girl definitely knows what a leash is for. She leashes up easily and walks well on them. She also already knows how to sit on command and will happily do so to wait for a treat or toy. She’s treat motivated and always takes them gently from your hand.”
