Alleged Sugar Land Bank Robber Arrested

(SUGAR LAND) – A resident of Clute has been arrested following a January bank robbery in Sugar Land.

On Friday, Jan. 20, at 3:09 p.m. Sugar Land patrol officers responded to a bank robbery at the Capital One Bank located in the 2300 block of Town Center. The investigation revealed that a male suspect passed a note demanding money and fled the scene. Detectives and the Forensic Services Unit took over the investigation. Fingerprint evidence recovered from the scene identified a suspect in the case.


The suspect was found, and detectives were able to obtain a confession from him. On Feb. 21 Derrick Lance Taylor, 41, was arrested by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force in Brazoria County. Taylor is currently in the Fort Bend County jail charged with Robbery, a 2nd Degree Felony, and being held on a $150,000 bond.
