Eligible Families May Receive $30 Off Monthly Internet, $100 Off Laptop Purchases

(FORT BEND COUNTY) – The federal government’s Affordable Connectivity Program is currently providing income-eligible families with $30 discounts on their monthly internet bills and a one-time $100 discount on the price of laptops and tablets.

Families whose children who participate in free or reduced breakfasts and lunches at school or who attend schools designated as Community Eligibility Provision campuses where all students receive free meals are eligible to receive the discounts.

Families with at least one household member who participates in federal assistance programs, such as SNAP, SSI or WIC, also qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program discounts.

Households on Tribal lands qualify for $75 monthly discounts on internet service in addition to the $100 one-time discount on devices sold by participating partners.

Those who have the government’s Lifeline discounted monthly telephone service also qualify for the ACP discounts.

Enrollment requires two steps:

  • Visit AffordableConnectivity.gov to submit an application online or print out a mail-in application.

  • Contact your preferred internet provider to select a plan or have the discount applied to your existing account.

Both steps must be taken to receive the discounts. Once enrolled, the internet provider will arrange for customers to receive the $100 device discount. There is also an ACP toll-free phone number the public may call for assistance at 877-384-2575.
