Excessive Heat Warnings and Advisories Continue Through Tuesday

(FORT BEND COUNTY) - According to the Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management, extreme heat will continue today, June 19, and will likely persist through at least mid-week.

Peak heat index values from 105 to 116+ degrees can be expected, mainly in the afternoon and early evenings. Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are now in effect through at least Tuesday evening. Light rain and storm chances are possible after mid-week, trending temperatures and humidity down a bit.

With extreme heat in the forecast, the National Weather Service recommends:

  • Limit any time outdoors, especially during the afternoon

  • Check your backseat for any pets or children

  • Check in with your neighbors, especially the elderly

  • Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated

  • Wear sunscreen and light clothing
