(FORT BEND ISD) – Student councils from Austin, Bush, Clements, Dulles, Elkins, Kempner, Travis and Ridge Point high schools were recently honored by the Texas Association of Student Councils.
Student councils were recognized for their work in various areas, including:
Pride & Patriotism – National, state and local (school and community) pride and patriotism
Community Service – Cash donations, service hours and donated goods for local, state, national, and global projects
Energy & Environment – Environmental and energy awareness and protection
DASH (Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health) – Safety awareness in traffic, home and school safety; drug, tobacco and alcohol abuse prevention; and health awareness and education campaigns
Outstanding Student Council – Awarded to well-rounded councils that serve as a model for others
Six schools – Austin, Bush, Clements, Kempner, Ridge Point and Travis – received the Sweepstakes Award, being honored in all five categories.
