FBISD’s Prekindergarten Students, Families Receive Book Donation from Statewide Program

(FORT BEND ISD) – Fort Bend ISD’s prekindergarten students and their families received a book donation from a new statewide program that encourages reading at an early age. Books Beginning at Birth is a new statewide program offering Texas families with children from birth through age four free access to print and digital books to promote reading at home. Representatives with the program delivered books to families at 34 FBISD campuses. Families can apply to receive books in the mail. In addition, the Books Beginning at Birth website has free tips, videos, a virtual story time calendar and other literacy resources to support families in developing strong reading habits. Books Beginning at Birth is presented by BookSpring and The Texas Association for Education of Young Children. Both organizations hope to bridge the equity barriers to school readiness for all Texas children.
