(KATY ISD) – The former head football coach at Paetow High School in Katy ISD has been charged with two felonies after several female students came forward with allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate touching on campus.
Lonnie Teagle, 39, has been charged with indecency with a child and improper relationship with a student. Teagle has resigned from his position at the school.
According to the charging instrument, two 15-year-old female students at the high school went to the principal in October with complaints about inappropriate touching and sexual contact.
The first student told Katy ISD police that in early September, Teagle began making inappropriate comments, which lead to inappropriate hugs. She said the hugs started with Teagle’s hands around her waist, but his hands would move down over her buttocks. On one occasion, Teagle allegedly pulled her onto his lap while they were in a school office, and she could see Teagle was visibly aroused when she got off his lap.
On another occasion, Teagle allegedly took the girls to a random room in the school and told them he was going to spank them. One student said he pulled her over his lap and spanked her three times before she could get up, then did the same with the second student. During that incident Teagle allegedly asked the girls if they liked to have sexual intercourse.
The second 15-year-old told police that Teagle began to say inappropriate things to her near the end of August. She told police he told her she has a “big booty” while at a junior varsity football game, and over the next few days he would smack her and the first student on the hip and butt area. The second student also says she was pulled onto his lap and could tell he was sexually aroused.
The students said Teagle brought them food on Sept. 9 and apologized to them for his inappropriate behavior.
Three other students eventually came forward with complaints against Teagle, including unwanted and inappropriate touching and telling one victim, “you are so pretty, I would date you if I were your age.” All three of those students told police they were afraid to come forward because of the Teagle’s “high status at the school.”
Teagle also had complaints from staff members of Stockdick Junior High School, which is adjacent to Paetow High School. Staff members told authorities Teagle made them feel uncomfortable on multiple occasions due to inappropriate comments, touching and mannerisms. Teagle allegedly visited the junior high campus often, unrelated to athletics or his role as High School Athletics Coordinator.
After a Grand Jury Subpoena for Teagle’s work files, it was discovered that Teagle had complaints from the Denton Independent School District from October of 2021. Those complaints allege Teagle told a female student “your boobs look good to me” and asked a group of female students for a back rub.
