(FORT BEND COUNTY) – The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has rescheduled their Trunk-or-Treat event originally planned for Halloween night. They are now partnering with the FBC Expose Excellence Program to hold the event t 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 at the Fort Bend Justice Center parking lot, 1422 Eugene Heimann Circle.
The event is free, and games will be available for the children, along with giveaways and face painting. Deputies will be handing out candy from the trucks of their decorated vehicles.
The Sheriff’s Office originally cancelled the event, which was met with swift backlash on social media.
The Sheriff’s Office original Facebook post read, “The FBCSO Halloween Night Trunk-or-Treat has been cancelled so that everyone can rally around the Houston Astros and enjoy Game 3 of the World Series.”
Facebook users immediately began posting negative comments about the cancellation and soon after a new date and time were posted.
“Our apologies for not clarifying our event and including the new date,” read the updated post. “We’re excited about our Astros, but we’re especially excited to give our kids a safe and fun Halloween.”
Game One of the World Series is scheduled for Friday night at 7:03 p.m.
