(FORT BEND ISD) - For the first time in its history, Fort Bend ISD’s Materials Management Team has received the 2023 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award presented by the National Procurement Institute, Inc.
This places the district among the top 17 school districts in the country to be acknowledged for its procurement excellence. The basic procurement function of the Materials Management Team is to acquire goods and services for the district in a timely manner at the right quantity and quality in compliance with federal and state regulations and Board of Education policies. “With a motto of ‘say what you do, do what you say, and then prove it,’ this award is a testament to the team’s dedication to that guiding principle and vision to become the premier K-12 procurement platform in the nation,” FBISD Executive Director of Business Services Rick Gay said. “The team’s consistent demonstration of value and integrity to the district, the community, and the state has been recognized as exemplary by industry experts.” The Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award is granted to organizations that demonstrate “outstanding procurement practices and achieve high scores based on national standards and best practices.” The evaluation process involves a rigorous peer review by industry leaders who measure the quality of an organization in terms of innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, leadership, and adherence to operating policies and procedures in public and non-profit procurement.
