(MISSOURI CITY) - If you are interested in getting more involved in your community on matters that relate to how the Missouri City Police and Fire Departments appoint their employees and members of their leadership team, this opportunity is for you. The Missouri City Civil Service Commission is seeking a resident to fill the Position 3 term that ends Dec. 31, 2023.
To serve on the commission, a person must meet the following requirements:
Be of good moral character
Be a United States citizen
Be a resident of Missouri City for the past three years
Be over 25 years of age
Not have held a public office within the preceding three (3) years
The commissioners serve a three-year term, unless reappointed, and have several functions:
implementation and oversight of examinations for entry-level and promotional eligibility;
implementation and oversight of any appeals of testing and examination scoring;
oversight of the qualifications for civil service positions created and authorized by the city’s governing body, including fitness for duty;
conduct of and procedures for appeals concerning a suspension without pay, an indefinite suspension, a demotion, a promotional bypass, and any other matter over which the Commission is given jurisdiction by law.
The commission meets as needed. The deadline to apply is Nov. 17. Applicants may be interviewed by the recommendation committee and the City Manager between Nov. 27 and Dec. 8.
