(RICHMOND) – The Richmond Commission is moving forward with a beautification project t after hearing a presentation from staff about a Texas Department of Transportation program which would allow decorative wraps on traffic control boxes at major intersections in Richmond.

City staff says this beautification project provides for colorful alternatives to the steel grey boxes. The commission agreed it will be important to select designs to strike a balance between celebrating local heritage and maintaining road safety. The commission will seek design input from the Richmond Historical Commission, the City’s Parks & Recreation Board and from Keep Richmond Beautiful committee.
