Richmond Commission Approves Interlocal Agreement with TxDot for License Plate Recognition Cameras

(RICHMOND) - The Richmond City Commission has approved an interlocal agreement with Texas Department of Transportation for placement of license plate recognition cameras for public safety purposes within the state rights-of-way.

The Flock LPR System has been in existence since 2017 serving law enforcement communities. The Flock system is utilized by most agencies and subdivisions for license plate recognition, gathering intelligence through LPR and real time Texas Crime Information Center alerts.

The Richmond Police Department will have the ability to view the cameras for assistance in solving crimes within the city, receive instant alerts on stolen vehicles entering the city to prevent and mitigate crime, as well as a crime analysis tool.
