Ridge Point High School Volleyball Program Hosts First Hall of Fame Weekend

(FORT BEND ISD) - Ridge Point High School’s volleyball program recently held its inaugural Hall of Fame Weekend to celebrate the program’s successful history.

The event featured Ridge Point volleyball players and alumni visiting Heritage Rose Elementary to read and distribute free personal reading libraries to individual student, a charity volleyball match between current players and alumni, and a youth volleyball camp led by past and present Ridge Point players:

  • USA Volleyball four-time Olympian Tara Cross Battle

  • professional volleyball player Taylor Bannister

  • Ridge Point volleyball head coach Lauryn Bailey

"The Hall of Fame Weekend serves as a bridge that connects the past and the present, allowing us to honor our program's rich history while inspiring future generations,” Coach Bailey said. “Through all the events held over the weekend, we have witnessed the remarkable talent and passion that has shaped our program."

Former Houston Texans Offensive Tackle Wade Smith was a key organizer and supporter of the inaugural event. The weekend concluded with a Hall of Fame induction dinner hosted by KPRC 2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy, featuring keynote speaker American Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Famer Fran Flory.

The evening honored three Hall of Fame inductees who have earned All-American honors during their collegiate careers - Caitlyn Cooper, Skylar Fields and Reagan Rutherford.

Also celebrated were 12 Hall of Fame finalists and the entire group of Ridge Point volleyball alumni for their significant contributions to the program's success.

“The accomplishments of our program and the exceptional careers of our student-athletes have not received the recognition they truly deserve,” Bailey said. “Our sustained success, with over 13% of our graduates going on to play D1 college volleyball, is a testament to the unwavering support and investment from our entire community. The Inaugural RPVB Hall of Fame Weekend was an extraordinary celebration that highlighted the program's achievements, celebrated its exceptional athletes, and fostered a sense of pride and inspiration within the community.”
