(SUGAR LAND) - The City of Sugar Land recently installed the first of four artworks described as a “remarkable sculptural bench series intended to enhance city parks with a unique blend of art and utility.”
Artist Elizabeth Akamatsu crafted the inaugural piece called "Dogwoods," which is now on display at Eldridge Park, 2511 Eldridge Road.
"Dogwoods" stands as a representation of the Dogwood flower and utilizes the sunlight to cast shapes on its surface.
"This new series of pieces being introduced in our parks is a resounding statement of our dedication to the enhancement of our city's aesthetics,” said Sugar Land Cultural Arts Manager Sha Davis. “The 'Dogwoods' piece is a striking addition to Eldridge Park, offering an enduring source of inspiration for all who visit.”
