Suspected Car Thief Arrested After Crashing Through Gate in Rosenberg, Running on Foot

(ROSENBERG) – The driver of a stolen vehicle was arrested in Rosenberg June 20 after attempting to flee from officers and crashing into a gate.

Officers were advised that a stolen truck entered the Brazos Town Center area near Home Depot. The traffic unit located the vehicle, and a pursuit ensued. The driver fled to FM 442 before crashing through a gate about five miles north of Boling.



Both the driver and a passenger ran from the truck following the crash and led officers on a foot chase. The driver, Jose Ruiz Perez, was taken into custody and charged with evading with a motor vehicle, evading on foot and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The passenger was located the next day.


While assisting with the pursuit, two Needville police officers were involved in a collision. According to Rosenberg police, only minor injuries were sustained.
